Was thinking about Milton Avery; watched a short documentary about his time in Provincetown and saw some of the paintings from that period. I have a love for Milton’s art but never saw some of these Provincetown works. I will improve the photograph in better weather.

I was working on this in the studio with the door open and a Monarch Butterfly paid me a visit – took a tour of the space and flew out the door again. That’s the inspiration for the colors… it was fun to make this and I may explore the technique further. Additionally, I think it looks great flipped horizontally and think it displays equally well in both orientations. This is the direction I painted it in… so I chose this one for posting here.
